I have cataract surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I expect to be absent from the blogosphere for a few days.
How about we share another Mary Oliver poem? After all, you can never have too many of those. In this one, the poet seems to acknowledge that it is often hard to simply live in and enjoy the moment, perhaps because we are afraid it can't last. She urges us to give in to that moment and fully experience the joy. Although "much can never be redeemed, still, life has some possibility left." Don't Hesitate by Mary Oliver If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is no...
I hope that you feel better ASAP after the surgery. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI just had my left eye done, Dorothy, and I can assure you that it is a piece of cake. My right eye is scheduled for two weeks and then I will have laser vision! Good luck with everything - but you don't need luck, just a good surgeon.
ReplyDeleteYou probably won't see this until it's all over, but, for many people, the worst part about that surgery is all the eyedrops you have to take after. I'm hoping your improvement is immediate and that your vision may even improve from what it was before the cataract. Take care!
ReplyDeleteOhh take care Dorothy. I hope it's very successful ... I've heard it is ... and hope you will have amazing results.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Dorothy, my husband had both eyes done 2 years ago and no issues. My right eye is getting there but, I can still put it off.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. It is not too bad the way they do it these days.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with cataract surgery and see you in a few days!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. You will enjoy your improved eyesight! Cheers
ReplyDeleteWishing you well!
