My apologies to "This week in birds" readers. No post this week. I hope to get back to my regular schedule next week. Thank you for your patience.
How about we share another Mary Oliver poem? After all, you can never have too many of those. In this one, the poet seems to acknowledge that it is often hard to simply live in and enjoy the moment, perhaps because we are afraid it can't last. She urges us to give in to that moment and fully experience the joy. Although "much can never be redeemed, still, life has some possibility left." Don't Hesitate by Mary Oliver If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is no...
Hope nothing serious is keeping you away, Dorothy.
ReplyDeleteNo, no. Just life keeping me a little busier than usual at the moment.
DeleteNo apology needed. These posts take a lot of work and sometimes it just isn't going to happen.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are well, but sad there's no This Week in Birds.
ReplyDeleteI wrote up a post about my unexpected birding weekend. I will post it Wednesday.
I look forward to it!
