Because so many people didn't believe and because companies knew, but didn't want to admit it, the world we are leaving to our children and grandchildren will be much different from the one we grew up in. I do try to look for efforts by communities to counteract the effects of climate change or at least to prepare for the future.

The monarchs were absent yesterday, maybe from the cooler weather and the high winds we experienced. It has been wonderful to watch them swoop around the garden in the past several weeks. Hope they are safely on their way to sanctuary.jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-26885894408722448352021-10-30T08:56:55.025-05:002021-10-30T08:56:55.025-05:00The newly named Homo caught my eye as well. One of my fondest memories is a visit to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see Lucy, the famous Australopithecus afarensis. I hold my encounter with Lucy as an almost religious experience. I could not have been more moved if she had been Eve!Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-74667852569596547252021-10-30T05:09:36.883-05:002021-10-30T05:09:36.883-05:00Thank you for the weekly roundup, Dorothy. We all ...Thank you for the weekly roundup, Dorothy. We all appreciate the time you spend putting this summary together. It is mind-boggling to say the least to hear politicians negotiating reductions to their commitment to greenhouse gas reductions in advance of the Glasgow Summit when catastrophic events around the world are seen nightly on the news. I was really interested when I read earlier of the discovery of Homo bodoensis. As you say this provides new insight into human ancestry, except that we all know that carbon dating is a false means of assessing the age of fossils, the Earth is only six thousand years old, and everyone is descended from two people who ate apples and talked to snakes in a garden somewhere. That's what we should teach our kids too, not all this scientific crap!! I despair!David M. Gascoigne,https://www.blogger.com/profile/17229638811027153569noreply@blogger.com
