I really feel that I'm there and I can feel the bone-chilling cold and experience the murky darkness of the long winters but also see the beauty in the craggy mountains and the craters and vents of the volcanoes. I love when an author does a good job with the setting so that it is easy to visualize and the sense of foreboding is another technique I love. Sounds like a series worth reading.
