Some of our naturalists do work with the turtles in Freeport and Galveston. I hope that makes up for the awful things we have done to the turtles in the past and the awful things we are doing to them now.

I'm off to take a look at the intelligence of insects.

Thanks for sharing these with us, Dorothy.Deb Nance at Readerbuzzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12128529491888701996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-37564818647330823702022-08-06T15:54:34.407-05:002022-08-06T15:54:34.407-05:00At least that little turtle was saved, but I wonde...At least that little turtle was saved, but I wonder how many were not.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-16444768827919605272022-08-06T15:41:29.850-05:002022-08-06T15:41:29.850-05:00So many links I could comment on (and a few that I...So many links I could comment on (and a few that I'll be sharing in my own round-up)! Texas definitely needs to work on its infrastructure to get power moved to where it's needed. That green sea turtle's diet of plastic broke my heart, but hurray for spotting a hummingbird that had thought to be extinct!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01774383554326288663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3560838335414244511.post-83447217055920019622022-08-06T08:33:17.184-05:002022-08-06T08:33:17.184-05:00Thank you for your always thoughtful and on point ...Thank you for your always thoughtful and on point comments. The plight of that baby turtle makes me want to take everyone who still merrily goes on using plastic straws, cutlery, disposable coffee cups etc by the scruff of the neck, but it probably wouldn't make much difference. I may, and I repeat may, have seen Santa Marta Sabrewing. I spent about a week there a few years ago and one day a hummingbird zoomed by me. It was impossible to identify and it didn't hover nearby, but we were in the right habitat and it was clearly different from the other hummingbirds we were seeing regularly. The remote regions of the Santa Marta Peninsula offer some of the best birding in the world with exquisite species found nowhere else. As for the extreme heat that is affecting so much of the world, we are slowly cooking ourselves, and still we fail to take action. Pretty soon I am going to sound like the Jehovah's Witness who came to my door recently to tell me that the end is near! Enjoy your weekend, Dorothy, and remain cool. All the best - DavidDavid M.
